YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE UNIVERSE

Illustration for a message in the "Missed Connections" section of Craigslist. The cryptic post said simply, "Your contribution to the universe has been acknowledged."

HOORAY FOR HOLI!

Funtimes inspired by the Indian spring festival of Holi. Part of the festivities include decorating elephants with beautiful elaborate paintings; here I imagine that the elephant has grown a bit tired of sitting through the tedious process and has created some fun by spraying his attendants with their own paint.

LOFTY ASPIRATIONS

Quarter-life crisis = solved. The job market is slim, the working conditions are not great, and the pay is slim, but I'm pretty sure it'd be a good fit.

COOKIE FOR TWO

This was a personal project inspired by a fun afternoon I spent wandering around in the West Village with my friend Sara when she last visited me in the city. After a long walk, we happened by chance upon an adorable little cafe that had both amazing coffee AND amazing cookies {a very rare find}. The seats in the sunny window made for a very pleasant place to hang and chat.

LAUNDRY DAY!

My penchant for dressing like a radioactive crayon box becomes quite apparent at my laundromat, which is frequented primarily by sophisticated Manhattan professionals.

"CLEARLY WE WERE MEANT TO BE," HE MUSED.

Hey kids, veggies are your friends! Or at least broccoli is, as he's a pretty cool dude. This PSA-ish piece was a great opportunity to introduce my green haired pal to little ruby, and they seemed to hit it off right away.

"THERE'S SOMETHING SPECIAL ABOUT HIM," SHE THOUGHT.

Broccoli and Ruby had so much fun that summer afternoon that they just couldn't be separated at sundown. They celebrated their new BFF status by taking merrily to the evening skies on the amusement park ferris wheel.

CUPCAKE MEETS HIS BAKER

It was love at first bite.

HEY CAITLIN, COULD YOU PASS THE REMOTE?

An ode to many nights of bunk-bed bedtime tv-time with my college roommate.

WOO, AIRBORNE BAKED GOODS

Cupcake, cookie, and I are having quite a grand time in this illustration for a children's jump rope song; the line depicted here goes "The kite away flew, and I did too!"

NOM NOM NOM

AAAHH, sea monster! With his soy sauce and chopsticks, he's ready for some sailor sushi!

DARN IT.

This little mad scientist's sinister experiment clearly went very very wrong...

HAPPY MORNING SNUGGLE TIME

This cute little girl and her kitties are basking in a good morning cuddle.

PREPARING FOR TAKEOFF

An adventure looms on the horizon...this illustration was for a piece on innovation labs. Here I've imagined the concept through the eyes of children who have made the most of their rainy day indoors with some arts and crafts. Now that the storm is passing, they've got the chance to take those newly constructed wings outside and fly.

JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS, & SELF-CONTROL

A series of 8x10 posters for the online magazine The Wheelhouse Review

I LOVE LONG WALKS IN TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS

This was a personal project inspired by a rather joyous walk home through an unusually intense sudden summer storm that recently passed through New York City.

PRETTY SURE THE WORLD WOULD BE A MUCH BETTER PLACE IF THERE WERE MORE THAN ONE DAY A YEAR IT WAS SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE TO DRESS LIKE A MONSTER AND INHALE A BOWLFUL OF CANDY.

Making an appearance at this most excellent halloween costume party: me, as the monster; and my friends Caitlin, as the rainbow unicorn; Darbie, as Princess Leia; and Jon, as Charlie Brown.

A IS FOR AWESOME

Selected pages from my illustrated book of things that are excellent.

OUT OF THE DESERT

The first in a series of finals for a book proposal.

IN THE CITY

Spread that follows the above desert-exit. The poofy white cloud dude in the middle is God, who is merrily munching on a cookie.

LAZY DAY PICNIC

Another spread in the same series; this time God's chilling out with ex-convicts picnic-style in the orchard.
